How is RE supported through school worship
School and class worship are used to support and encourage Christian values in all pupils.
Worship time is also used to share and celebrate success, special occasions, e.g. outside of school achievements, presentation of certificates and awards.
In non-COVID times Parents are invited into school on regular occasions to share Class Masses, Liturgies and Whole School Masses. They are also invited to specially prepared productions and to services for special occasions e.g. Christmas and Easter.
Notice of such events is given in advance, either by a general letter of invitation, or through individual class invitations.
We encourage children to take an active part in planning and organising worship, which they do with increasing independence. Weekly gospel assemblies are regularly led by children of all ages. They might participate by saying prayers in other languages; they may lead the singing and movements; it might be an instrument they play for us; or they may act out Gospel stories.
Children are also invited to write reflections on different aspects of the liturgical year and children are actively encouraged to lead class prayers, acts of worship and class liturgies.
There is normally close co-operation between the school and our Catholic Church 'The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary'.
Historically this connection is so strong that this church is always referred to as 'St Mary's Church'.

Until very recently we have been incredibly blessed to have Canon Desmond Millett as our Parish Priest. He visited our school on a regular basis for assemblies, class masses, whole school masses and continues to walk with us on our journey with God.
Since his sad death, we have begun to develop a relationship with Father Michael Fountaine from Saint Patrick’s Catholic Parish Church in Corsham
Currently, due to the COVID pandemic Fr Michael is not visiting schools or is permitted to accept visitors to the Church or to the Presbytery.
The Parish Office is closed at this time and parishioners are asked not to enter the office to prevent the spread of the virus.
